The Best Is Yet To Come: New York Sullivans Spinoff (Summer Lake, Book 1) Kindle Edition
Best friends. High school sweethearts. Passionate lovers. Once upon a time, Sarah Bartow and Calvin Vaughn were everything to each other. Until big dreams—and an even bigger tragedy—tore them apart.
Ten years after good-bye, they're finally together again at Summer Lake in the Adirondacks...and the sparks between them are hotter than ever. Soon one kiss is turning into so much more. Not only breathtaking, sizzling lovemaking—but also deep, honest emotions that can't be denied.
Calvin refuses to let the ambitions and disasters that separated them a decade ago wreck them this time. Not when he knows for sure that Sarah is his one—his only—true love. He let her get away once. He won't make the same mistake again. Even if it means risking his entire heart, and every last piece of his soul, to show her they belong together now...and forever.

Sarah Bartow and Calvin Vaughn were best friends and then were inseparable in high school as first loves. Life was beautiful and perfect but heading off to different colleges that always had the intention of staying together. Instead, when Calvin's dad unexpectedly and tragically commits suicide two months after his mother dies giving birth to his sister Jordan, Calvin's life takes a 360 and he decides he must stay home to raise his sister. Even though Calvin desperately wants Sarah to stay, as young love often does, stubbornness gets in the way and Sarah continues on her path at College, gets her degree and moves to the big city to follow her dream career.
Now ten years later, Calvin is Mayor of Summer Lake. His sister is 10, and thriving. The whole town pitched in to help him raise her. Sarah has come home to Summer Lake for her job. During a meeting with a client, Sarah brought up her hometown. Now she's supposed to sell the small town on building condos. Of course the new Mayor & head of the architectural review board has to approve this.
This was a great start to a new series set in a familiar place to Sullivan NY fans, Summer Lake. As usual Bella does not disappoint with her descriptive writing and story telling so I was immediately invested in this story.
It is a little different to what we've expected in her other books as we actually get two love stories delivered at the same time. One in the present, (Sarah and Calvin) one in the past (Olive - Sarah's 88year old grand mother and Carlos). Carlos and Olive's story was just heartbreaking.
The story flowed effortlessly and I especially loved the way the art of knitting was incorporated into life lessons. Calvin and Sarah were clearly soul mates and I loved that their story is filled with emotion, passion and love. Their chemistry is electric also and there are some pretty spicy sexy times to go along with great conversation. I can't wait for more Summer Lake love. Well done Bella again.
Summer Lake to follow her dream as her father had always encouraged her to do. Calvin's mother died in childbirth and a few weeks later his father shot himself leaving Jordan a baby. Calvin devoted his life to bringing her up.
Now ten years later Sarah has gone back to Summer Lake as she is trying to sell condominiums for a Client Her mother and grandmother own a
shop called Lakeside Stitch and Knit where they give knitting lessons beside selling wool and yarn. The connection between Calvin and Sarah is still strong and he is determined never to lose her again. This is a story that cannot be put down until the end, It has everything a rfoman ced
reader wants in a book
I fell in love with Bella Andre's work with her first book in the Sullivan series, The Look Of Love, and that love has grown with each book of hers I've read. I've read other books she has written, besides the Sullivans and loved every one because they are so magnificently written. She is one of the few authors, whose books I will buy no matter how much they cost
(Don't tell my husband).
The Best Is Yet To Come is book #1 of The Summer Lake series, a spinoff of The Sullivans. It is the story of Calvin and Sarah's second chance at love. Ten years prior, Calvin was faced with a horrendous tragedy that no one should have to face and it almost destroyed him. Sarah was not there for Calvin when he needed her most and neither one of them has ever gotten over it. Now Sarah is back in Summer Lake for business and personal reasons that require her to see Calvin and she is hoping its doesn't blowup in her face. Seeing each other makes them both aware that they have unresolved issues between them that need to be addressed and dealt with before they can move on. It also becomes obvious that they still have feelings for each other besides anger, resentment and animosity.
Is there hope for a reconciliation between Calvin and Sarah? Can they let go of past hurts and open their hearts to love a second time? And what about the fact that Sarah is just in town for a couple weeks and plans to leave when her business is complete?

Having been sent by her company to develop the area, by convincing the community to allow them to build condos on a prime spot, she finds herself conflicted because she discovers she still loves the man she grew up with.
He is the mayor and is not in favour of the changes her project will bring since it will completely change the character of their historic town.
While there, her grandmother suffers a health crisis leaving her knitting shop short staffed. Her mother can't cope while caring for her mother.
Despite the ten year break, during which Jordan has raised his baby sister, their relationship immediately reverts to a blazing sexual one as their love resurfaces.
The story is well edited and characters are well developed, but I found the main female protagonist to be lacking in moral character and loyalty to her family, her boyfriend and to the community. Read how she confronts her weaknesses and makes better choices.

The close knit community in the book has been well depicted
Waiting to read other books in the stiry
